Hi, I’m Lottie and I’m a second year experimental psychology (EP) student. In terms one and two of the course you take 3 ‘prelim’ papers that provide you with an introduction to psychology, neurophysiology and statistics (you may also be able to choose to take a paper in philosophy or linguistics). In terms 3-5 ‘part 1’, you study core subjects in psychology including those necessary for BPS accreditation, and also complete lab-based practicals. Finally, in terms 6-9 ‘part 2’ you choose several advanced options from a wide selection of topics. One of the best parts of the course is the diversity of the topics covered and the opportunity to carry out your very own research in year 3.
