Hi, I’m Charlotte and I read Economics & Management at Jesus. There are typically 4 E&Mers in each year at Jesus and it’s a great place to do the course. First year gives you a broad introduction into the 3 main areas of E&M with modules in General Management (an introduction to Managerial theory), Financial Management (basic accounting and financial analysis) and Economics (builds on A-Level or equivalent). The course is then really flexible and you choose all of your modules in your 2nd and 3rd years so you can study what you enjoy. You get a good mix of quantitative and essay-based work with E&M which gives it more variety than some other courses and involves genuinely interesting and relevant content. Although I would dispute the nickname of “Easy & Manageable” that our course has gained, there is probably some truth to this as E&M, given the contact hour obligations, allows for a good work-life balance. This is something I didn’t necessarily consider before applying but would suggest you take into account. It is a huge factor in allowing you to make the most of your time at uni as you can get involved with other aspects of uni life, like sport or drama, without feeling overwhelmed.
I have really enjoyed my first 4 terms here and I can’t recommend this course enough.
